A new chapter for Good Garden

Good gardens are never really finished. They grow, change and evolve over time. And, in many ways, the same is true for Good Garden.

Over the years, our work has brought together a longstanding family background in hardware and metalwork with an equally longstanding interest in gardens and the things that help them thrive. From practical garden hardware and plant supports to planters, tools and the knowledge that comes from using them, the garden has increasingly become a world of its own for us.

We feel the time has come to give Good Garden more room to grow.

A renewed Good Garden

Over the coming months, we will be working on a new direction and a completely renewed environment for Good Garden.

The garden itself will take centre stage. Not simply the products we use in it, but how we grow, plant, maintain and enjoy our gardens throughout the seasons.

Good Garden will become a place for practical gardening knowledge, thoughtful inspiration and carefully selected tools and garden products — brought together with a clear belief that useful things should be well considered, well made and made to last.

Building on what was already there

This new direction does not mean starting again.

Our family’s experience with hardware and metalwork reaches back to the early 1950s. Garden hardware and products have been part of our activities for many years too, from plant supports and edging to larger pieces such as metal planters.

Good Garden gives us the opportunity to bring those different threads together and build something more complete around them.

Growing slowly, and growing well

We don’t want to fill Good Garden simply for the sake of filling it. We would rather build it as we would build a good garden: with a clear structure, good foundations and enough time for individual parts to develop properly.

That means more useful articles, seasonal gardening knowledge and ideas worth returning to. Over time, it will also mean a carefully considered collection of tools and objects for the garden.

There is quite a bit of work ahead of us. But that is part of the pleasure.

Good Garden is growing again.

Good gardens take time.
